Ferndale is a village known for its Victorian atmosphere and history, still present today, and this history is at its most evident at the Ferndale Museum. Featuring Victorian period rooms, working crank telephones, an operating seismograph, farm tools and more, the museum is open located at the corner of Shaw and Third Streets. Open to the public from February through December, hours vary depending on season.

Phillips House Museum

This house shows life in mid-19th century Arcata with lace curtains, fine china, quilts and newspapers from the period on display. It is an example of Greek revival architecture and is open on Sunday for tours.

Situated in a turn-of-the-century Victorian bungalow just of Main Street and Patrick's Point Drive, the Trinidad Museum features five exhibit rooms and showcases the region's history and heritage, including carved Redwood canoes and basket exhibits by the area's Native American population. From mid-April until the end of October, this museum is open free of charge and showcases the area's early pioneering history with early logging artifacts, a miner's cabin and more. The museum is perhaps best known, however, for its bigfoot exhibit, which features the lifelong career of Bob Titmus and includes maps of sightings, casts of footprints, photographs and newspaper articles. Open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm during summer months, other months by appointment.

Part of the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation in northern California, the Hoopa Tribal Museum aims to preserve and share the history and heritage of the area's native peoples. Visitors can see original Hoopa, Yurok and Karuk artifacts, including dugout canoes, hand-woven baskets, ceremonial regalia and tools, as well as artifacts of early pioneers who first settled the area. Open Tuesdays to Fridays from 8am to 5pm, as well as Saturdays during summer months.

Fortuna Depot Museum

This 1893 historic train depot now houses memorabilia from the railroad, farm and war eras. It includes large locks, spark plugs and barbed wire displays as well as a doll collection and many types of fishing gear and lures.
